THE Kitten corner and THE Guppy Brook

Preschoolers learn best through a hands-on approach. Our staff plans activities that encourage exploration and discovery to engage children in active learning. Social relationships become more complex at this age, so our staff models and supports cooperative play and social problem-solving skills with the children.

Curriculum

 

Your child will be developing kindergarten readiness skills, including:


– Recognizing their names and the names of their friends


– Counting


– Identifying numbers, shapes and colors


– Developing social skills


– Beginning writing skills


– Classifying


– Learning school routines

Sample Schedule 
 

Circle time — Morning meeting, songs, fingerplays, stories, games

Center time — Art, fine motor, books, math, blocks, home living, writing, sensory table, music, science

​

Small Group time — teachers work with small groups of children, teaching a variety of skills

​

Outdoor Play — children engage in self-directed and teacher-directed activities to build healthy bodies

​

Snack — children learn table manners and conversational skills; snack is provided


Large Group time — music and movement activities and games


Afternoon Schedule includes:


Lunch — your child brings his/her own lunch


Rest time — usually from 1:00–2:30 pm / Quiet activities provided for children who don’t sleep


Snack — children learn table manners and conversational skills; snack is provided


Group Activity — music and movement activities and games

Outdoor Play — children engage in self-directed and teacher-directed activities to build healthy bodies

​

Center time — usually with combined age group / May include
art, fine motor, books, math, blocks, home living,
